Located in mid Devon on the southern edge of the Brendon Hills, Wellhayes Vineyard lies on a sheltered south-facing slope overlooking the small village of Clayhanger. The red Devonian soil over shillet is deep and free-draining which suits the vines perfectly.
Our sparkling wine is made on site in an old stone barn by the traditional method, solely from the grapes that we grow in our 1 hectare vineyard and is a unique blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Reichensteiner. Each vintage is therefore a singular reflection of the grapes produced in the vineyard in that year.

We currently have the 2020 vintage available. The wine has a fine mousse and balanced acidity with a fresh taste of lemon and strawberry and a hint of raspberry. It has been stored ‘on the lees’ for 3 years and is ready for drinking now but will improve over the next year or so. It has been awarded a bronze medal in the International Wine Challenge 2025 and a silver medal in the Independent English Wine Awards 2025.
